The BOLT is Back "Lightning Bolt" Re- Launches in LA

The Bolt is Back! The 70's Surf Brand Re-launches in the US

It has probably been many years since you’ve seen someone sporting the iconic Lightning Bolt logo on a shirt.
Well that is all about to change. The 1970’s inspired surf clothing company is making a big push again.
Just recently the brand relaunched a new line of apparel in the United States and can now be found in several surf shops and hip boutiques from coast to coast and online at: www.killerdana.com

And if your local surf shop doesn’t carry the cool brand, you can be sure it’ll be on the shelves in the months to come.
Lightning Bolt launched its website which features the current collection of clothing, nostalgic photos from the original Bolt team and today’s surf team. Also on the site you’ll find “Bolt TV”which gives a behind the scenes look at what the Lightning Bolt team is up to.

The Girls from Tyku were there to support the re-launch

Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails Bear Mountain

Once again, Bear Mountain and its Park Crew threw down another successful Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails. This is a one of a kind event that took 110 tons of ice to produce this Summertime Rail Jam. The riders in attendance had a couple of fun options to impress the judges and large crowd on hand at Bear.

Lane 1 Lookers Right had a 45 foot kinked crooked down flat down option to a Pyramid Box and Lane 2, there were a couple of different lines with a bomb drop at the top to provide some good speed for the 30 foot granite box to the kicker/ wall ride option or to the 35 foot curved rail around the backside of the wall ride leading into the Dog House.

This course was sick, and the riders competed in 45 min jam sessions where judges were looking for the most creative and polished lines. The riders needed to ride both lanes and compile a multitude of spins, presses, flips and airs on each obstacle to catch their attention.

Todd Richards and Pat Bridges the emcees of the event were keeping both the crowd and judges in check calling out the action as it was being laid down. TR was also down frolicking with crowd during breaks between heats and giving away swag and hold mini dance competitions for snowboards while also keeping us informed about the Hurley Pro going on at Trestles.

It was great to see a huge crowd turn for this summertime throw down and show the support to their local resort and get a chance to pick up a smoking deal on a season pass, which was a one time offer for this day only. So I hope all of you in attendance picked yours up. See ya when the snow flies.

Volcom to Fantasy Island Ramp Jam

As always Volcom Crew had it going on right from the get go this year, with their island theme beach bash complete with blow up palm trees, mini pools, beachballs and steel drum music. They also brought in a ramp from the Skate Park of Tampa and gave away a bunch of cash for best trick to those who were capable of holding their own in the jam. I witnessed a multitude of very tech lip tricks, airs, disasters and near disasters in the contest. The announcer kept the crowd into it and got the participants pumped up to push their limits, calling out each skater to bust something bigger and badder each time somone stepped it up. This was most definitely some of the best skating I've seen packed into 1 hour than most will ever see in a life time, between the kids on the vert ramp to the lip trick specialist on the mini ramp, it was an eyefull. Take a look at some of the images captured on Day 1 at ASR. Enjoy!
